Tier 2

So let's talk about Tier 2. For those of you not familiar with our previous campaign, Tier 2 is a shorthand reference for advanced abilities that require in-game lessons to learn and which are more powerful than those found in the base rulebook.

We understand that character progression is an exciting and integral part of the role playing game experience for many of our players. There are those of us on the staff who feel the same way and are equally excited to provide ways for you to mechanically grow. However, we don't have that yet. The game is new to all of us. Trying to successfully write and balance advanced rules systems that are based on rules that we haven't had a chance to vet with proper gameplay yet is a nigh impossible task. We have ideas of where we want to go, and who knows what we'll be inspired to do with a few games under our belt, but we are not there yet. Once we have rules fit for consumption, we will share them with you. If upon reading those rules you feel like you've misspent your points thus far and want to respec your build, we will allow it. But that is definitely not going to happen during the fall season and we can make no promises for the spring season.

We understand the need to optimize and strategize character progression and how it can be distressing for some to feel like they are 'wasting' precious game time by going an event without lessons for ability advancement. We get that it may pain some of you to read the following words: There will be no ability advancement lessons in the first season and possibly the second. Please focus on developing your characters, getting accustomed to the basic systems and the new world you find yourself in. Absolutely build in-game relationships with potential teachers, but please go easy on our staff with questions about what's next in a given discipline because even though their character should absolutely know that information the person playing them will not. As frustrating as it can be for you to be excited about the next level for your character to achieve and not be able to access that information or work towards it, it can be equally frustrating and distressing for our staff to be asked those questions in game, not have the information to give you, and then feel like they're letting you down.

We promise you: You are not being punished. You are not missing out on anything. You will not be at a disadvantage in the end game. Give us the time and respect to create you the game you deserve.
